More Than a Cup of Tea: The Story Behind Tai Tea

If someone asked me why I created Tai-Tea, they might expect me to talk about herbs, wellness, or my favorite tea blend.

The truth is...Tai-Tea was never really about tea. It was about finding myself. Have you ever felt like you were always chasing something? For me, I was constantly chasing the feeling that came with starting something new; a new job, a new opportunity, a new goal. Every new beginning brought excitement. I felt motivated, inspired, and hopeful. Eventually, the newness wore off, and there I was again, searching for the next thing that would make me feel alive. Looking back, I don’t think I was chasing success. I think I was chasing peace. Then 2020 happened. The world slowed down, and for the first time, I couldn’t outrun what was happening inside of

me. At the same time, I was grieving the sudden loss of my mother while facing health challenges that seemed to come out of nowhere. Depression quietly settled in, stress had become normal, and my body was struggling. Emotionally, I wasn’t sure who I was anymore. Somewhere in the middle of all of it, I realized something. I didn’t just need healing, I needed to learn how to mother myself. Not by pretending everything was okay. Not by staying busy. Not by pushing through another day. I needed to care for myself with the same patience, grace, and compassion that I so freely gave to everyone else. I needed something that would slow me down long enough to do it. That became tea. Not because tea magically solved my problems, but because it became a daily reminder to pause.

To breathe.

To pray.

To nourish my body.

To quiet the noise.

To reconnect with God.

To ask myself the hard questions.

One of the biggest questions was this:

Who am I? Not the woman everyone expected me to be. Not the version of me that knew how to perform, achieve, or survive. And not even the woman I was before 2020. The truth is, she was already carrying layers of trauma, neglect, people-pleasing, and low self-esteem that I hadn’t fully recognized yet. (We’ll unpack those layers together in future Tea Talkposts.) I wasn’t trying to get back to who I used to be. I was searching for the woman God created me to become. The woman I may have never truly met. Or maybe...the woman I’d forgotten somewhere along the way. Tai-Tea wasn’t born in a business plan. It was born in prayer, quiet moments, healing, and the decision to finally choose myself. What began as a simple daily ritual became a calling. Today, every blend is an invitation—not just to drink tea, but to slow down, breathe deeply, reconnect with God, and remember that healing is possible.

This blog won’t only be about tea. It will be about healing. Faith. Purpose. Identity. Growth. The messy middle. The victories no one else sees. The conversations we often avoid because they feel too vulnerable. My hope is that every time you visit Tea Talk, you will leave with something more valuable than information. I hope you will leave feeling encouraged. I hope you will leave feeling seen. And most of all, I hope you will leave believing that no matter where your journey begins, healing is possible.

Welcome to Tea Talk. I’m so glad you’re here.

Sip & Reflect

Before you rush into the rest of your day, pause for just a moment.

What have you been chasing?

Achievement?

Approval?

Success?

Peace?

Or maybe...a version of yourself you’ve never really met.

As you sip your tea today, ask yourself:

Who am I becoming—and am I intentionally becoming the woman God created me to be?

Healing doesn’t happen all at once.

Sometimes it begins with a single prayer.

A quiet moment.

A deep breath.

Or simply giving yourself permission to slow down.

I would love to hear your story. Share your thoughts in the comments or take a quiet moment to reflect

with your favorite cup of tea.

Until next time...

Sip with purpose. Live with intention. Heal one day at a time.
